Does the counting rule change how you judge completeness?

Something I keep thinking about with five-ingredient recipes is how much the counting rule itself shapes whether a dish feels finished or just abbreviated. Like, does a splash of olive oil count? Does salt? Once you settle on a consistent rule, the same recipe can read as generous or stripped depending on where you draw the line. Curious whether people find that the rule they use actually shifts which dishes feel satisfying versus which ones feel like they're missing something.
